Vembu StoreGrid 2.5 with MySQL Database Back-end

On popular demand from our service provider partners, we are glad to release the 2.5 version of Vembu StoreGrid with support for MySQL as the back-end database. Previous versions of StoreGrid come with an embedded relational database (SQLite). Though the SQLite back-end works very well, for better scalability and manageability, it is best to use a Client-Server database as the back-end. Towards this end, we are releasing the StoreGrid v2.5 version with support for MySQL client-server database. In StoreGrid 2.5, the RDBMS backend previously using the SQLite database is replaced with "support for" a MySQL database in the back-end. Note that this change is applicable only for StoreGrid server [Backup Server (or) Replication Server]. The StoreGrid client would still use SQLite embedded database as it would be an over-kill to use a MySQL database at the client side.

Please follow the following steps to evaluate StoreGrid v2.5 Service Provider Edition builds:

Download the StoreGrid 2.5 Server and the Client Only build.
Before installing StoreGrid in your Server, you will need to install MySQL in your Server (or in the machine where you would like to store the StoreGrid server's metadata information). The installation guide for installing MySQL in Windows is available here. The installation guide for installing MySQL in Linux is available here.
Install StoreGrid Backup Server in your Windows or CentOS/Redhat Linux Server (builds are provided at the end of this page).
Configure StoreGrid to use MySQL as the back-end database. The MySQL installation guide (that you downloaded in Step 2) has details on how to configure StoreGrid to use MySQL as its back-end database.
If you are new to StoreGrid, download the StoreGrid Help documentation and familiarize yourself with configuring and using StoreGrid.
Start the StoreGrid server and configure storage location, etc
Install StoreGrid 2.5 Client Only build in your client machine. Builds are provided at the end of this page.
Configure backup schedules - with the machine running StoreGrid 2.5 backup server selected as the backup server.
